Trainee Travel Grant

CSEM offers a modest stipend intended to help offset travel and accommodation expenses in support of PGY 4–5 Resident members presenting an abstract at the 2025 Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference and participating in the 19th Annual CSEM Residents’ Day Review Course.

Eligibility:
  • You are a CSEM PGY 4–5 Endocrinology and Metabolism Resident member

Conditions:
Remember: when submitting your abstract, don’t forget to apply for travel grant consideration!

Note: If you receive a grant, you are required to submit all original travel receipts, boarding passes, and hotel bills to CSEM.

Dr. Sonia Salisbury Resident Clinical Vignette Award

The Resident Clinical Vignette Award from 2006–2012

Two $500 honoraria and certificates are awarded to the clinical trainees who have presented the two highest ranked oral resident clinical vignettes in conjunction with the Diabetes Canada/CSEM Annual Professional Conference. The online submission form for all abstracts is here.

Dr. Sonia Salisbury graduated at the top of her class at McGill School of Medicine and went on to be the only pediatric endocrinologist in the Maritimes. She was a trailblazer for young women in medicine and had a significant impact on the lives and work of many people. She was awarded multiple recognitions and served a CSEM President. She was a consummate clinician, on-call 24 hours a day for the diabetes program, tirelessly caring for her many patients. She passed away at the age of 86.

Dr. John Dupré Award

An internationally renowned and respected clinician and researcher, in 1964 John Dupre showed that intestinal factors regulate insulin secretion, which led to discovery of incretins (metabolic hormones that stimulate a decrease in blood glucose levels). He will be remembered by the diabetes community as world class scientist.  He passed away at the age of 90.

Dr. Charles Hollenberg Award

One $500 honorarium and certificate will be awarded to the trainee who presents the highest ranked oral or poster basic science/translational research project in conjunction with the Diabetes Canada/CSEM Annual Professional Conference. The online submission form for all abstracts is here.

Dr. Paul Stewardson

A member of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame, Dr. Hollenberg is most notably recognized for his fundamental role in academic medicine and research.  His study of lipid metabolism significantly impacted the subspecialty of endocrinology and metabolism. He passed away at the age of 73.

CSEM Quality Improvement Award

One $500 honorarium and certificate awarded to the PGY6 Fellow who presents the highest ranked completed oral or poster quality improvement project at the Diabetes Canada/CSEM Annual Professional Conference. The online submission form for all abstracts is here.
